Tarek Amer (chairman of the National Bank) confirmed that loans increased by about 5 billion pounds in the last year and 3 billion pounds in December of last year to reach 97 billion pounds.
Amer said that the bank was able to increase the intake of bad debts of one billion pounds in the past year and 1.6 billion pounds in December 2008 to reach 6.5 billion pounds, he said, adding that the bank continue to deal with all the debts of the irregular end of the fully resolved by 2010.
Amer pointed to a number of future challenges to upgrade the bank, including the continuation of the policies of development and restructuring to achieve the desired letter to be a regional financial institution providing a major new banking services and is keen to develop the Egyptian economy and society, as well as to raise the competitive capacity to face stiff competition from private banks and foreign by arming the latest technology and tools, employment and management systems.
The chairman of the National Bank, the Bank will continue to contribute to the major national projects in agriculture, roads, health, housing and services, ports and ship-building, in addition to many other projects in coordination with the Egyptian and international companies, and the need to expand the granting of credit to small and medium enterprises, which contribute to the revitalization of climate investment and help reduce the size of unemployment.
